While earning my history education degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, I showed a particular interest in military history. The complexities and stories involved with war always intrigued me and that was only heightened through my coursework. The aspect of the war I find most interesting is the technological aspect. The fact that from 1939 to 1945, military powers around the world went from cavalry and trenches to jet aircraft and atomic bombs is such a huge leap in technological advancements that it is hard for me to fathom.
In addition to the reasons I enjoy learning about World War II, learning opportunities allow me to be a better teacher. Teaching students about World War II is exciting and enjoyable, but it carries such a larger impact if you have seen and experienced aspects of the war firsthand. You can speak to students with so much more knowledge and experience than you can with only classroom research and knowledge.
